Coach Annen joined Dripping Springs ISD after serving five years as the head swimming and water polo coach for Lehman High School in Kyle. During his tenure, he doubled the size of the Lobos' swim program while leading athletes to set eight new school records and qualify for the regional meet in each of his five seasons. His success earned him District Coach of the Year honors in 2023.
In 2022, Coach Annen launched the Lehman water polo program and guided the Lobos to a Bi-District championship in the team’s inaugural season.
In addition to coaching, Coach Annen teaches social studies at Dripping Springs High School.
Coach Annen is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.
Jonathan Tate is a longtime educator and accomplished coach with more than 25 years of experience in Texas schools. A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, he coached basketball, track, and cross country at Lorena, Robinson, Boerne, and Champion high schools. During 18 seasons as a head cross country coach, Jonathan’s teams won 27 district championships and nine regional championships. He led the Champion girls to back-to-back 5A state championships in 2019 and 2020, along with state runner-up finishes in 2018, 2021, and 2022. His boys cross country teams finished as state runners-up in 2020 and earned third place in 2019 and 2023.
Jonathan also enjoyed considerable success in track and basketball. His teams captured six consecutive girls track district championships at Robinson, 16 boys and girls district track championships at Champion, and two regional track championships. During his 11 years as a head girls basketball coach, his teams reached the playoffs every season and won two district championships. His honors include being named the 2020 NFHS Texas Cross Country Coach of the Year, the 2020 NFHS Southwest Sectional Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year, and the TGCA Girls 5A Cross Country Coach of the Year in both 2019 and 2020. He was also the first inductee into Champion High School’s Legacy Educator Hall of Fame.
Jonathan and his wife, Dr. Tanya Tate, the new superintendent of Blanco ISD, have been married for 30 years. They have two grown children, McKayla and Owen, and one grandchild, Rhodes. McKayla is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and works as a patent agent, while Owen currently attends the University of Texas at San Antonio.
